Anti-Aging Complex (ALA/ALC/Carnosine/GSE) is specifically designed to provide a significant amount of antioxidant and anti-aging protection simply by taking two capsules a day. We have combined significant dosages of the powerful antioxidants, alpha lipoic acid and grape seed extract, with acetyl-l-carnitine, a potent source of energy – to produce a commanding formulation. We then added the cross-link breaker, carnosine, to make for a balanced formulation designed to ward against several of the known biochemical causes of aging. Anti-Aging Complex can play a valuable role in anyone’s anti-aging supplement regimen.

Alpha Lipoic Acid
Alpha lipoic acid (ALA) is an antioxidant naturally formed in our bodies in small amounts. It is somewhat like a vitamin in that it needs to be supplemented in order to reach levels that are effective. It has been studied for more than 40 years and no serious side effects have been identified. ALA is unique in that it is the only antioxidant that is both fat- and water-soluble.¹ This means it can reach virtually every cell in the body.

There is a significant degree of interaction between ALA and vitamins C and E. It has been found that ALA helps conserve both of these vitamins and promotes the effective interaction between them.² It helps the liver in detoxification pathways for heavy metal pollutants.³

Acetyl-L-Carnitine (ALC)
Acetyl-L-Carnitine (ALC) is a naturally-occurring molecule that helps transport fatty acids into the mitochondria to be burned to create energy.⁴ Mitochondria are tiny organelles that are considered the intracellular powerhouses, as it is within the mitochondria that ATP, the universal energy molecule of the body is formed. ALC alsohas beneficial effects on the brain and mental function.⁵ The main benefits of ALC include its ability to help burn fat, its use as a “smart nutrient” and its ability to increase energy by maintaining ATP levels.⁶

Carnosine (Beta-Alistine)
Carnosine is a small molecule formed from histidine plus alanine that has been used for enhancement of aerobic capacity for over 25 years. Recently it has been found to have more extensive anti-aging applications.⁷ Skin care researchers have found that carnosine can reduce skin wrinkles. It does this by breaking bonds between sugar and protein molecules. These bonds are part of the aging process known as glycosylation (“Advanced Glycoslation End Products” or AGEs). There are also cross-linkages between the protein molecules to one another. These, too, are broken by the carnosine molecules. The end result of this activity is improvement of the elasticity of skin.⁸

The elimination of these unnecessary bonds also helps with the movement of cellular components. You could say this eliminates "internal wrinkles". The flow of nutrients and waste products is improved. The cells function in a more youthful manner, and some researchers have speculated that carnosine may serve as a potent antiaging nutrient.

Grape Seed Extract
Grape seed proanthocyanidin extract has been shown to have significantly better free radical scavenging abilities than vitamins C, E and beta-carotene. It also supports the growth and viability of normal cells.⁹
